Memories
Have you ever smelled a scent
that took you back
to a place in time when you were younger?
Just for a second, no longer,
all the feelings came rushing back of that place in time.
It could be the smell of summer rain or of an ocean breeze.
Even the smell of a newspaper could bring back the memories.
In that second you were in that place in time of your life
When she loved and needed you and
everything was right.
When I am near her and I can smell the fragrance of her skin
I then go back to that place in time when all was right
Other times when I walk outside, a fragrance comes to me
Just for a second
And for that second, I return back to the place in time when
I was with her at a lake, or riding on some lonely back road
Then I come back to reality knowing it was no more than a dream
And again it is all gone like
